NHS Wheelchair Vouchers

Can an NHS voucher pay for my Series 5?

NHS Wheelchair voucher can be used to help cover part of the cost of a Series 5 electric wheelchair, depending on eligibility and your local NHS trust.

For powerchairs, like the Series 5, the cost of the chair is higher than the maximum value of the voucher. However, it can be used towards your balance, alongside private funds or other grants and funding.

How to get an NHS wheelchair voucher

Every NHS trust is different, so check with your local NHS wheelchair services for eligibility and application process.

1. Check if you’re eligible

NHS wheelchair vouchers are for people with a disability or long term mobility needs. Speak to your local NHS wheelchair services to find if you qualify for a voucher

2. Assessment

Before getting a voucher, you’ll usually need to meet with an occupational therapist who will assess your needs. We are more than happy to support your occupational therapist with anything they need during the assessment proves.

3. Application

Once you’ve been assessed and your needs are documented, the NHS wheelchair services can issue a voucher at a set value, which can be used towards a purchase.

The information on this page is for general guidance only.

NHS wheelchair vouchers and eligibility criteria can vary by location and individual circumstances.

Please contact your local NHS wheelchair service for advice specific to your situation.

Powerchairs and mobility scooters are very different products and it’s important that you choose the right option for your needs. A powerchair gives you much more comfort and support, particularly if you have complex postural needs, and is the better choice if you need a product for frequent use. Powerchairs also have a much smaller turning circle which means they can be used indoors and outdoors as they have far better manoeuvrability.

Yes, you can definitely travel with a powerchair! Our founder, Alex has travelled to over 70 countries with his Series 5, which has influenced a lot of the features and design of the chair. There are extra steps you need to take when travelling with a powerchair, like providing information to the airline. Check out Alex’s ultimate guide to travelling by air with a powered wheelchair here (link to air travel guide).

The Series 5 powered wheelchair has been created with just one thing in mind – freedom. Because unlike most other powerchairs on the market, the Series 5 design team is led by a powerchair user who understands your frustrations.

Our head office is based in Glasgow, Scotland but if you would like to try the Series 5 then we offer nationwide test drives.
